Make your best decisions today

In Episode #18 of One More Question, Ross is joined by Erik Kruger — international speaker, specialist team and executive coach, and author.

Ross and Erik chat about how to look at the challenges companies are facing and how to act in these uncertain times, and the value of purpose — from the big, overarching purpose, to the micro-purposes we can assign to different parts of our day.

Highlights

If you pull a community or a group of people together around a purpose, and you engage them in two-way conversation, in a proper relationship where they're able to give you feedback and you're giving them stuff, it becomes a cycle.

In the very early days of my coaching, I didn't have the skills, but I had the trust of many people. So they pulled me into these very high-level coaching engagements because they trusted me.

You are always so scared when you start talking about niching — it feels like you are narrowing your world, and you're going to lose out on so much business, but it's always so counter-intuitive that it actually just brings a lot more business to your door.

Where does your identity lie? If your identity lies as a speaker, or if that's the only way that you think about yourself, then when there's turmoil in the world, when things are changing, the only real question you have is, how do I change my speaking? Do I take it from offline to online?

If you understand the biggest challenge that you are solving for people — your deeper reason for doing what you do — how you execute is actually not as relevant because you'll always find a way to make it work

You'll emerge from this and you'll have a new breed of competition — you'll have teams that have really embraced remote work. All of a sudden, when they are back at the office, they have this entire new range available to them, this new way of working, that's available to them.
