Goats and the Metaverse is a daily news show hosted by Yossi Hasson, CEO and co-founder of venture studio Metaversal, and Stanley Meytin, founder of the Metaverse Players League (MVP). Combining their shared knowledge, experience, and passion for Web3 and the Metaverse, they launch daily deep dives into NFTS and the latest updates in the Web3 market.Aimed at seasoned and first-time Web3 investors alike – Goats and the Metaverse offers a fun and informative way to better understand an often unpredictable space.

Still, they faced a few challenges. How could they merge traditional news broadcasting in something unconventional like Web3? And at the same time differentiate themselves from other news shows?

In collaboration with the two founders and show hosts, we worked to build an immersive brand identity that would launch them into Web3 and set them apart as the go-to news platform in the Metaverse. The result included:

• A set of tailored PFP (profile picture) goat characters
• A simple, polished, and multi-layered brand identity – with customisable stickers
• Bold yellow and blue backdrops

“YouTube news-based channels that are podcasts, especially within the NFT space, have a specific look and feel. We wanted to create something different that would make them stand out”

— Shannon

“Goats only, baby”

— Stanley

“How can we make it feel like people are collecting episodes?”

— Robyn

Strategy

To build out a strategy for Goats and the Metaverse, we collaborated with the team to establish the following:

  • Familiarise ourselves with other Web3 channels that offered similar services.

  • Clarify their intended audience.

  • Establish the purpose of their podcast

With insight into the above, we better understood the conventions of Web3 news channels, the templates and content that would engage and grow their audience, and lastly the impact they wanted to have.

Design

With this knowledge, we began developing their brand's visual language. Goats and the Metaverse wanted to be “the go-to news channel for all things web3, Metaverse and NFT”.

Using this to motivate our design, we explored the concept of collectibles. First in the Web3 space, then drawing on the host's personal experiences collecting baseball cards as a child.

Bridging this sense of childhood nostalgia and the hype around NFTs, we developed a PFP cartoon-style logo form and illustrated badge inspired by sports collection cards. Details included novelty font to mimic a handwritten style signature often found on collectible sports cards.

I remember the experience of opening up a new pack, discovering the cards inside. I was filled with excitement – Yossi Hasson

To transition them into Web3, we incorporated components such as drop shadows and large banner designs. Plus striking primary colours and outrageous stickers the hosts could layer into the design in an infinite amount of ways. This gives the brand a sense of depth and adaptability – a non-negotiable trait in the fast-paced Web3 worlds.

Impact

The result is:

  • A creator-centered Web3 program with a dynamic and blended brand identity

  • A framing device to showcase each NFT artwork and artist's story

  • A word mark logo that sets Metaletters apart and captures its community-first culture
